Having recently acquired a bottle of Root 100 root beer schnapps, I immediately decided that I needed something to make with it. I decided on the Root Buzz Float. Basically a variation on the White Russian, but with Root 100 substituting for the vodka.

• 1 oz. Root 100
• 1 oz. Kahlua
• 1 oz. cream

Shake ingredients vigorously with ice, and then serve over ice. Mmmm. The herbs in the Root 100, combined with the Kahlua, gives it an almost anise-like quality, but not overpoweringly so. Alternatively, one could substitute Van Gogh Espresso-flavored vodka, for a Root Buzz Martini.

From SWAOP-friends Jeff M. and John F., the Fire and Ice is a simple shot. It’s simply:

• 3/4 oz. Sambuca
• 3/4 oz. red cinnamon schnapps (any brand will do, we used Bols Red Hot)

Simply shake with ice and serve in a shot glass. It’s a zesty, freshening shot that goes down smooth.
